God sent a precious gifted wife

There are times when a woman believer hears God better. She takes the spiritual lead and steps out in faith boldly. This is a testimony of such a woman who lived 2000 years ago. The Bible record of Priscilla, wife of a Jew named Aquila.

Excerpts quoted from an article about this couple: “this Christian couple were one in their experience of God’s saving power, and so became one in their holy zeal for the Saviour, and in their service for His church. They were partners in faithful endeavors, not only to present Christ by lip, but also in the excellency of their walk and conversation.” (https://www.biblegateway.com/devotionals/all-women-bible/2012/09/24 All the Women of the Bible by Herbert Lockyer)

There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them,

[ Priscilla, Aquila and Apollos ] Paul stayed on in Corinth for some time. Then he left the brothers and sisters and sailed for Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila. Before he sailed, he had his hair cut off atCenchreae because of a vow he had taken.

They arrived at Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.

Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus.

[ Final Greetings ] The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.

[ Final Greetings ] Greet Priscilla and Aquila and the household ofOnesiphorus.

Excerpts from another article:
“When the apostle Paul penned the epistle to the Ephesians in AD 62, Aquila and Priscilla were back in Rome after living and serving the church in Ephesus for several years. I am sure; however, they were not forgotten by the saints there. Perhaps the Apostle Paul had Aquila and Priscilla in mind as an example of a Spirit-filled husband and wife when he penned Ephesians 5:18-33….”
