When we are self-engrossed, we open a door to let the enemy (evil) to come in to steal, kill and destroy. We would be incapacitated, immobilized, frozen at a spot in the corner of memories and pains.
The common enemy is called the father of deceptions. He specializes in mind combat.
When we do not guard our mind the deceiver has a field day in our mind and hold us in captivity.
This is a situation nobody wants, man or woman.
‘Self’ is often the real enemy. what self-talks we tell ourselves over and over again day in day out, weeks after weeks, and for some, years after years?
I like a little program called: ‘just a minute’ or sixty seconds. Each contestant is given only sixty seconds to talk on a topic. One of the rules is “NO REPETITION”.
Action point: Give your mind a break by exercising this rule. No repetition (of negative self-talks)
How to maintain this rule? repeat and practice the following verses which I personally find powerful and effective to demolish the enemy in the mind. This is a timeless advice to many:
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:8-9)
